Take on the Feed my Starving Children sign

I grew up in a time before Poland Spring when the water you drank was
(basically) free and you got served dinner as part of your flight
fare. Obviously, those times are long gone and people will make money
off any part they can but the one that always shocks me the most is
that when you go to a gas station you have to throw in a dollar's
worth of quarters for air, I fondly remember being able to get my BMX
tires filled for free as a kid.
But that is a reality that has long been passed by, today there are
advertisements on the air pump things as if the $1.00 for air isn't
enough.
But I was particularly shocked when today I drove past one which said
"feed my starving children". I get that there is a hard working
person behind all of this but isn't that just a little much?? I get
that gas stations probably feel awkward about charging for air but to
go to that level to justify it is ludicrous

In college, the gutter punks who asked for spare change on my way to class everyday (or when I went to class) were much more honest:

"Can you spare me some change for pot?"

"Can you spare me a dollar so I can buy beer and get fucked up?"

"Can you spare me some money for porn?"

I still never gave anything, though. Lazy losers needed to get a job.
