Take on the pipeline hack ransom recovery

Reading a story about how US investigators recovered millions of dollars of ransom payments for that Colonial Pipeline shutdown gave me two reactions. Obvious excitement to know that a bunch of Russian actors weren't able to profit over our misery and hoping that we can disrupt this type of thing in the future. Second I wonder how exactly they could recover cryptocurrency which I was sort of under the impression wasn't traceable and needed some kind of wallet and key.

Mostly I'm just excited that BitCoin's value dropped so I can buy some at a discount
