Take on the replacement

This weekend is going to be key in how the inner circle can get through to Joe that it's time to get him a creamsicle, watch some fireworks and turn off the lights. He can go down as a great president who left (sort of) on his terms. He will have accomplished more in term of policy and if he throws his fills support behind his successor, he will possibly be able shepherd in right more years of Biden's vision. This could lead to major changes on the big court and the oh so important lower courts too. It could mean holding the senate and maybe winning the house and it can all happen if he steps aside. For the good of the country.

Take on the donor class

As the donor class tries to come to grips with its new reality, we all think that it's time to seriously consider an alternate plan.   We know that Biden can't come to this decision alone, that wouldn't be fair but it's also time for Jill and Barack to sit him down and give him the bottom line.    It's time for a new guard, one who can not just excite the base but stay coherent.  

My biggest question is who should my donation be to as the only thing that really matters is beating Trump

When the NewYorkTimes decided to call on Biden to drop out of the race as his last and maybe most important act of public service to his country, we agreed.

The TOR editorial board believes that Biden continuing is reminiscent of RBG not resigning and leaving her spot on the high court vulnerable when there was no reason to. As you could see in her public appearances, she looked like she was deteriorating before our eyes. Stepping down was the kind of selfless act which could graciously protect her legacy and the causes she championed. But she refused and that single act turned out to define her legacy as much as anything else she accomplished. Her refusal to acknowledge Father Time showed us that she was somebody whose own self interest gambled the most precarious spot away, a gamble whose repercussions will be felt for decades.

When the stakes are this high, you don't gamble with your mortgage. And this race is far more important than even somebody's personal fortune. And Biden has just gone all in with the future of our republic. I hope to God I'm wrong but Biden staying on top of this ticket is going to be his legacy. For a guy whose entire life has been about service this last act is completely self serving. His inability to acknowledge his own mortality will now leave his legacy stained.

A little over an hour in and this debate has got us cringing over at Team TOR. Biden looks old, confused and out of touch in a forum he wasn't good at even when he was completely there cognitively. Trump is boasting one lie after another but doing it mostly with zeal and although I hate him with the passion of a thousand horny goats, he's so much better at this than Biden . I know for the vast majority of people, their minds have been made up but for those on the fence, this can't be good for Biden. And four more year can't be good for my anxiety.

I'm certain this abortion case was not posted erroneously but instead with the intent to put pressure on the three conservative justices to back down.

I'm not naive to believe any of these high stakes blunders are in fact anything other than a method of undermining the decision of the high court as they will undoubtedly be strong armed by a very influential -and very rich- conservative donor class.

Take in the $18 Big Mac meal

You almost can't get a meal in midtown for less than $13, so we know how ludicrously expensive the price of food has gotten. Food trucks are routinely $15+, a hot dog costs like $4 and walk into a Pret hoping to spend under $20 is a challenge. This is the way of the world but nothing has been a more direct hit to the pocketbooks than food costs and the American voters want somebody to blame and it's becoming more and more apparent and in getting more and more nervous that this somebody is going to be one Joe Biden.

A proposal to finally do work on the BQE is in the table which would mean the worst highway in the world could finally get a facelift. The issue is that it will be completely impossible to shut it down and we will spend the next 10 years dealing with one again off again construction which won't ever get anywhere. Think The Big Dig but without the payout.

Dave Grohl going after Taylor seems like it's never going to land well. I have no idea if she lip-sings but I do know she's the biggest pop star in the world throws an hell of a concert and getting on her bad side can't be good for your career. With that said, stop getting your parties in a bunch over a stupid comment. Like honestly, this can't possibly be that big a deal, can it??

The JJ Reddick signing made no sense and honestly just proves how dysfunctional that team has become. I know that Jeanie Buss is mostly interested in keeping LeBron happy but it's time for maybe the most storied franchise in NBA history to start acting like it. So far in her reign they have been nothing but a Mickey Mouse organization.

Take in the new poll

The latest polls show Biden starting to pull ahead, we know this means nothing as Biden winning the popular vote isn't the challenge. It's cobbling together enough random little towns in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to matter. We can forget all of this and just have them vote in the five or six states that will decide this race, the rest of our votes don't matter.

Take on the trains

The temperature topped 90 degrees which apparently means that the trains can't run anymore. I don't get the issue but I'm sick and tired of people telling me how good train service is and how we should be expanding it when a little heart wave shuts it down.
I don't even take the train and I'm annoyed by it…mostly because it forced a billion extra people onto the roads and tunnels and turned my usual horrible bus commute into a downright miserable one.

I just don't get it. Our entire country is based on a few basic principles, one of which is a separation between church and state yet Louisiana is making it a law that classrooms must display the ten commandment. But when your highest judiciary is corrupt, our legislature can be bought off and we elected Trump as president, nothing seems normal

Putin's arrival in North Korea has got the entire world on edge as the two countries forge ties while both face increased tensions from the West. What shocked me is not that these two countries would meet, Kim went on an armored train to Russia recently, but that North Korea has anything at all to offer. Everything you heard is that North Korea is a backwards country with limited infrastructure and no real economy. People starve, the country has no lights when compared to South Korea in satellite photos but somehow you can get 50,000,000 rounds of munition from them.
Something doesn't add up, you are either completely poor and dependent on whatever foreign aid is allowed to drop in, or you are a manufacturing center which is ready to pounce.

You've got to be kidding me. I looked at a CNN headline which screamed that some deadly virus is spiking right after I bought a nonrefundable ticket to Tokyo. The good news is that in Japan, people actually do care about each other and will wear masks as they respect their neighbors and don't make everything a battle of rights. But whatever, I'm sure this is nothing. Just like the bird flu, the swine flu, the bat flue and the whatever flu have all been nothing.

Another day, another random shooting which will lead to thought and prayers and nothing else. This time the victims were kids and toddlers who were playing at a splash park when they were gunned down by some deranged lunatic. They were able to trace the gun back to his house where he was living with his mother. I'm sure there will be some prayer services but no action because there never is any action.

I cannot believe that in 2024 we still can't figure out that these automatic towel dispensers just don't work. It's amazing how often you walk out of the fan and when you put your hands underneath one of these things, the sensor doesn't see you. The automatic sink things to get the water to come out basically are inoperable also

The fact that Trump failed to impress a room full of CEO's doesn't seem to shock anybody. We know that there is certain element of ultra rich who love Trump because of his lax tax policy but I have to hope that these people who despite their reputations are likely pretty smart and hopefully do recognize that tax break or not, Trump has the mental acumen of a dish towel.

Take on the Gov. Hochul’s idea to ban masks.

Governor Hochul made a decision to ban masking on NYC subways which will undoubtedly lead to another backtrack for her.  We see the reason why they want to limit masks as they have gone from protecting against a deadly virus to something that is used for nefarious acts.  But we know how this will end, people will come out saying they still don't feel safe and after public pressures she will cave just like she did with the congestion pricing.

A Nathan's hot dog eating competition without Joey Chestnut is about as exciting as watching a WNBA game without Caitlyn Clark. I'm not sure what they expect to get out of this but banning your biggest start is a recipe for somebody puking all over your stage.

Take on the Hunter Biden’s guilty verdict

Hunter Biden being found guilty isn't a bad thing for the reelection campaign, I think- if framed correctly- is a good thing. For one, it allows Biden to distinguish himself again from Trump by accepting a verdict and vowing to not use a pardon to lift the conviction. It's also happening now which is months before we go to the polls, so it's will have lost its zing by the time that happens but mostly it shows Biden as the compassionate father he is which is the polar opposite of Trump.

I told my buddies a few days ago that I thought that Hurley may stay in college even with the Lakers offer. I had no idea why, and it was pointed out to me that between the one and dones and the NIL that college coaching isn't what guys like Coach K signed up for years ago. It all made sense but something about having to coach a 49 year old prima donna who wants his son on the team and a broken AD maybe isn't that enticing. The roster is not that interesting and the West is stacked.

I just felt that at UConn maybe he was building something that could be iconic but truthfully the most shocking think is that he is not longer referred to as "Danny" Hurley

There is no dumber decision than leaving your biggest star off of the Olympic roster. When you are 12 deep, and you have a player of Caitlyn's caliber you don't overthink it and you make sure she's on the team and ride her all the way into a gold medal but as usually the US Olympic committee or the US/ Women's basketball makes decisions that have no rhyme or reason. This is akin to Jordan forcing Isiah off of the Dream Team.

I've never seen the Kardashian, I've never seen any of the Fast and Furious things and I've also never seen any of the Bay Boys franchise. I don't judge those who have (actually I do) but I'm just shocked what they are up to the fourth installment of the Bad Boys thing, I'm not sure I knew there was more than one

There is no bigger piece of trash than Alex Jones and I've often thought burning in hell while wearing kerosene underpants would be a fate too easy. When he was told to liquidate his assets to pay the Sandy Hook families, he cried like the little whiny baby he is.

The Yankees are advertising that you can get some insurance patch added to your jersey for a cost of $15. I can't imagine in what world I'd pay a company extra to advertises for them. Maybe I'm a baseball purist but the Yankee uniform should be pinstriped with an interlocking NY and a number of the back, that's it. Maybe a number on the sleeve to commemorate the passing of a Yankee great but that is absolutely it
