Five years after we shut the world down, the White House decided that while we were in an economic spiral, this would be the time to change the official position of our government on how COVID started. I've always assumed it to be a lab leak, so that part doesn't bother me but what does is that the way they mock the entire pandemic is awful.

People's lives were foreverchanged, we had thousands dead and we became more divided by it, yet our president thinks that playing it off as just an inconvenience is what this country needs.

I got my Real-ID months ago so all the signs at the airport and articles I see, aren't scaring me. What I do wonder is what exactly my Real-ID is. It literally is just my license with a little gold star. I can't believe that this gold star is meaningful in any substantial way.

Take on the weird lighting

I've noticed a thing about any of these interviews Trump has in the Oval Office. There is some weird lighting in that place, it's like there isn't enough green or blue as everything looks like it's being filmed through a lens's covered in cream cheese. There is something totally odd with that lighting.

Take on the misery of the market

Every time I look at my 401k, I feel more and more miserable. This orange clown has decided that the best thing to do is crash our economy so he can try to win a ln economic showdown with Xi. What he doesn't realize is that Xi is not going to back down, he will dig in and will not relent. Our president on the other hand d has already backed off of the electronics and will likely start to give away other negotiating positions and call it a win. What a jackhole.

Take on the stalking US Economy

I'm enjoying all the winning. It just feels like we have a trophy case at this point which has no more room as Trump has brought us unprecedented prosperity.

Inflation if rising, Americans are being detained and some extradited to Central America, civil rights are trampled, dictatorships are being embraced, personal freedoms are being ignored, tee shots are hit and birdies are made, and our standing in the world is being diminished. But we have red hats and can say merry Christmas again.

The idea of IRS employees being laid off is one of the most ludicrous concepts I've come across. If you don't like our tax laws, change them but taking away people who enforce them or help citizens follow them is idiotic. The. Again, this is Donald J Trump and he does plenty of things that are completely moronic.

Take on 6'3" and 225lbs

Trump's doctor claims he's 6'3 and 224 pounds which is about as believable as him winning all those club golf tournaments. I can't tell you what he weighs but he looks like a gigantic sack of bologna which has been left in the sun. He may be the second most powerful man in the world but he looks in the mirror everyday and has to see whatever the hell this is.

Smartphones get an exception, mostly because Tim Cook went to the inauguration showering Trump with donations. This is what is wrong with our country, one of the richest companies in the world is getting an exception while thousands of small companies who don't have that privileged access suffer. The entire time we were told this was about forcing companies like Apple to restore to make their products here but of course that like everything else was full of crap. Let's "punish" China by exporting some of their biggest most profitable exports in the high technology sector.

Trump had a physical today at Walter Reed today and if it comes back with anything. It morbidly obese, I'm not buying it. We know that The Great Leader would never release something that is stellar, so I'm guessing we get some redacted review which is likely the best we can get from it.

Take on Trump's triple-digit tariff on China

With tariffs now at 145% on China (not mentioning the 25% still in place from the previous Trump administration) we are nearing 200% territory. We know that this will basically end trade between the countries which will have devastating effects on both. China needs the US consumer but the US consumer just as much needs the Chinese producer.
We know that XI isn't going to back down to a threat like this which he sees as existential and Trump has too much pride to back down, so it feels like this could go on for a while. If he had imposed this on a smaller country, they would have caved under the pressure much like Colombia a few months ago The only thing that makes me think there could be a quick end was because the ratcheting up went so quickly, and was done on emotions not economic rationale. So maybe, just maybe, cooler heads prevail

Trump retreated hard on tariffs today and when the market recovered gave himself credit like a guy taking a bow for the sun coming up. You created this mess and then when you didn't have the backbone to stick with it, you caved.

But we know the entire thing is more sinister, you crashed the market so you and your cronies could buy the dip and then brought it right back.
All the wheeling and dealing you accused Hunter of doing, you are doing exponentially and somehow we are letting you get away with it

Take on the Trump Tariff Dump

The damage Trump will have done to our country when this is all done, will be uncountable.  We will have weakened our manufacturing but making us less competitive as we will always need some components that will now be tariffed to the teeth.   Our consumer base will pay more for household items and our stock market is in a retreat.   But somehow the unwashed masses follow the word of their lord and savior.  A guy who wouldn't piss on them if they were burning

The on tariffs

The idea that the wolf's economy seems to be tethered to the whims of a man with no desire to understand complex situations and one who has no moral compass, can't be a good thing. We don't think that Trump knows or understands international trade, so the fact he's made asinine decisions isn't shocking. What is shocking is that unlike Trump 1.0, there are no guardrails. There are no "adults in the room". There is just a complete North Korean-esque cult.

Tomorrow could be a really bad day. I'm talking bloody Monday bad. I don't know how much the market had figured in tariffs but apparently not very much. What I am sure about is that we will all be poorer (on paper) tomorrow and it will here for quite a lot of time.

The good news is that although our economy is collapsing, there are mass protests across the country and four servicemen's remains were flown home, Trump won some gold tournament. Nobody believes he's legitimately won but it makes him feel good, so I'm sure everybody just plays along. But this is our county, we tell the great leader what he wants to hear and we see our way of life deteriorating in front our very eyes. Not sure when I moved to North Korea

Nothing was more obvious to me than predicting how the market was going to react to this tariff mess. A 10% drop in two days puts us squarely in bear territory but I'm afraid this isn't the end. Recession happened but most of then come when something unpredictable caused it like 9/11 or the pandemic. Even the ones that were market bubbles were not something that could have be prevented let alone avoided.
But thanks to Trump we have lost paper wealth and added to anxiety all for nothing.

Economy. My 401k is down 4% today and if the futures tell me something is that this is going to be another bloodbath tomorrow.

April has made our entire country look like fools. Trump's decision to start a trade war with the rest of the world will cause an inevitable recession which economists will study for years wondering why we would walk directly into the abyss. People have asked me today why Trump would do this. Why would he think this makes us stronger or healthier or richer. Never have I felt more pride in my state than when senator Booker did what nobody has been able to do. His marathon filibuster put him squarely in place to be the counterweight to GOP aggression. We don't know how this works out but for Booker to come out this way, to prove that Democrats actually have a voice and a message, means we finally have hope. It's time to take the country back, not specifically back to a Democratic one but to one where decorum and rules and traditions hold more sway than whatever the hell Trump is doing.

We know one thing for sure, Wednesday is going to an epic shit show.   Trump will announce tariffs on basically everything and everybody meaning we will all pay more for every last bit of material we use in anything.   There is likely not an industry immune to this, as components from a diverse supply chain will be tariffed leading to higher prices for the goodies which will then make them more who's I s when compare to goods made in other countries.  So this genius plan will likely only make US less competitive on the world stage.  Economic genius, I  tell you

Take on the third terms thing

Trump announced today that he's been trying to find ways to allow for a third term and predictably everybody's going nuts. This is a fabricated controversy which he has created to distract us from whatever other slight of hand he's got in store as it will suck up all the oxygen now that his Greenland, Canada and Panama Canal ambitions have gotten stale. Don't allow this to become our next story, watch instead how he's continuing his power grab through the willingness of the GOP to allow his to run roughshod over democracy

We were told regular Americans mostly cared about runaway inflation but when it came down to it, they all just wanted to be able to embrace their racist selves. We know that none of this mattered, it was all a big scale scam preying on ignorance. We can't get much dumber as a country if we tried.

Take on the road map.

When the White House puts out a tweet suggesting they will find and kill illegals immigrants, you start to wonder what they won't do. We know that they are not following a standard playbook but this is just nuts. We are starting to use every possible corrupt abuse of power to run this like a true oligarchy.

Take on the frozen job market

A week from tomorrow the government will release the jobs report and as I've been predicting, it's going to be less than stellar. Not only does it feel like the economy has started to really slow down but when DOGE decides to do headcount cuts, those are going to be felt in the data. Maybe not every DOGE cut is bad but in the aggregate they are going to kill the job report which may very well be the first noticeable crack in the seemingly impenetrable Trump mystique even if somehow it will be spun as a positive.

The entire cabinet are a bunch of incompetent stooges. We have seen them try to explain what was happening or why the reporter was a left leaning commie but when you see that these people treat classified information with such callous, you wonder why we need to settle for this. Time for Tulsi and Vance and Crazy Pete to reign.

New York city will elect a new governor soon and it looks like the chances of winning go in an order something like Andrew Cuomo, Curtis Sliwa and Eric Adams. This is a despicably bad offering and we have to be embarrassed that this is the best we got. I can't say I know anything about Zohran the Mandalorian but he's got to be better than that three headed monster.

We get that they didn't mean to add a reporter to their text thread but the fact they are communicating that way in the first place seems ludicrous. What i am sure about is that the "But Her Emails" crowd will be super quiet this time around which just shows them for the cowards they are. I know the James Carville theory of just waiting to let these idiots implode seems like a pretty good bet but not sure our country will be recognizable if we go that route.

I'm not sure what the best course of action would be but to think that this guy has spent significant time both complaining about this and negotiating a settlement between Ukraine and Russia is insane

When you get to the south they tell you that you should not use your cell phone within 25 feet of a gas station which sounds totally ludicrous. I'm all for curbing cell phone usage but this seems as arbitrary as having to turn your phone off on a plane. We need sensible laws and rules not Big Government breathing cos our backs

George Foreman dying had me messed up on two levels. First of all, he was obviously an incredible boxes who I only saw the tail end of his career when he was fat. But even then, he seemed like he was sort of unstoppable. Not because he was fast or nimble but because when he did, he hit you like a freight train. But of course my biggest memory of him is the grill which turned this dude into John Madden II.

Trump signing another executive order, this one is to dismantle the department of education. In a country where we constantly feel like we are falling behind in education, this seems like a terrible move if only for the optics. Japan and China aren't cutting education, Europe isn't either. But here we are, the country that has already told the woke we are science skeptics, taking the next step and basically just saying screw it, we are what we are.

When MTA announced it had gotten rid of metro cards, it was clear to me that I didn't realize they still existed. I'm not purist but the metro card was never as cool as the token, I doubt there will be a nostalgia behind them and honestly doubt they will be missed. Although that reminds me that I think I still have like $6 on my card which is good for like a half a ride by now.

I'm not sure I can do another 3 years and 10 months of this. Trump has spent the first part of his second term, destroying the entire institution. I get that this was the Steve Bannon playbook and I also know that they have this thing mapped out to a t. There wasn't a conservative who would have been caught dead in an electric car yet now they are all tripping over themselves to get closer to Elon. I don't like rooting against the Tesla stock because we all have a lot of our 401ks and investments tied into it but god, if it can drop just a bit more maybe the Tesla's board of directors has some guts and appoints a new leader

Trump and Elon did a joint infomercial for Tesla today which completely erases any hope for impartiality. Here is Trump picking winners in the global car race and getting everybody to listen to his reasoning. This is the kind of activity that would have gotten FoxNews into a panic a few years ago but now they are likely providing play by play. I'm so sick of all of this, can we just got back to the old guy who would forget where he was every now and then?

When your entire persona is about showing strength you better have the balls to show up when things aren't going well. The stock market is in a tailspin, the world is questioning the new world order and we are destroying our infrastructure from the inside. I get that this is what we apparently wanted but at what point do we start winning and not looking like a bunch of fools.

I'm 99% sure the stock market recovers as it alway does but maybe this is the exception because nobody likes instability.

Kamala came out of hiding this weekend to start to poke fun at our chubby president. It wasn't innocent fun either, this was hard core political trolling by Kamala by using Trump's own words against him. We know the democrats can't seem to get their message out, they always just look defensive, meager or plain weak and I don't think they themselves know what they need to do I'm also not sure who is going to be able to deliver their message daily but right now that is an obvious void and it's time for somebody to step up.

Nothing seems more appropriate than a bunch of Trump supporters screwing around and finding out. I get that they aren't all that bright and we all saw this disaster coming like that giant boat and that iceberg but the fact that anybody is surprised that their messiah isn't exactly kosher, needs to repeat the class

I always knew Mike Johnson was a small man but seeing him on that manjuice stained FoxNews couch convinced me the guy might a little person. I have nothing against little people but when he is trying to compensate for lack of stature by being a total jackass, I lose all respect for the man and the position. When the history of the US will be written, at one point they will turn to the page of our present speaker and everybody will wonder why he was wearing lifts.

Rooting for any aircraft to go down seems legitimately sick but when that SpaceX exploded, it almost felt therapeutic. What Musk has done to our country in the last two months will be something we deal with for years and he's not close to done. It sounds like Trump has had enough of the Mexican and Canadian tariffs and will be walking those back in the next few days. He will somehow try to paint it as a win but it will be a complete embarrassment as he did it and when the stock market crashed, he will have tried to present it didn't happen. I'm not sure what great "deal" he will claim but I'm quite sure it's not one that actually will make America greater.

Doge keeps inflating numbers like men inflate the size of their peckers and nobody seems to bat an eye. We know Elon's rat pack was never going to actually do what they claimed they were set up to achieve but to see it fail so completely in such a public way, is hard to imagine. Good news is that somebody w to buy Twitter for like a few millions dollars which in the world of DOGE math might be worth a few billion

Take on the mJD Vance family ski trip to Vermont

Poor JD. He's is so unlikeable that he and his family basically got booed off the state at a ski mountain. We all knew it would be a disaster for him to come, but having spent 100s of days in Vermont skiing, it seems like a near impossible place to have a VP skiing. They are so many variable, trails, weather, moguls, lines etc.

Had he come to Killington, I'm sure I would know of at least one snowboarder who wouldn't totally stop if he was on a trail and JD crossed the trail at the same time .
