Take on the terrible hat

The Knicks are terrible, they have no talent, a badly matched system,
a rookie coach and a GM who is more interested in meditation than
negotiation. But there is nothing worse than the head gear of their
biggest star who happens to be LaLa Vazquez's husband the highly
overrated Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo isn't insulting Knick fans by
shooting 5 for 20, he also insults them by dressing like the Cat in
the Hat. Forget PED's, racist owners or isolation basketball, Adam
Silver needs to put this on the top of his list of things to change

  1. How is it that the largest, most storied city in America, NYC, has so many crappy sports franchises year in and year out (with the notable exception of the Yankees)?

The Knicks and Nets historically suck, it took the Rangers forever to win the Stanley Cup again, the Islanders have sucked for 30 years after winning 4 in a row in the late '70s and early '80s, the Mets, other than in 1986 - 1988 are usually mediocre and now they are just putrid, and we won't even mention the Jets and Giants.

Even the college teams suck. Columbia football had that 30-something or more game losing streak in the '80s or '90s, and St. Johns basketball was only really good during the heyday of Chris Mullin in the early '80s and for a short time when Ron Artest played there.

Chicago, LA, San Francisco, and Boston all have significantly better overall pro and college sports teams (again with the notable exception of the Yankees).

  4. White Sox won the World Series not too long ago, and the Blackhawks were in the Stanley Cup finals a couple years ago (of course, the Rangers were in the Stanley Cup finals last season).

The Bulls have been competitive lately, and though the Bears are very average, at least they are average. Even Northwestern football won a bowl game last year.

Currently, no pro team in Chicago is a real championship contender except the Blackhawks, but everyone will probably end up at least .500 this current or coming season, even the Cubs. That's all I meant -- these cities typically have winning teams overall lately. Only 1 team in any league can win a championship.

Right now, NYC doesn't even have any winning teams except for the Yankees and Rangers. That's 2 out of 8. (3 out of 9 if you count Major League Soccer as a real high caliber pro sports league, which is debateable...so long to the great Thierry Henry!).
