Take on slimy food

I have a friend who travels to Japan often and always describes the food as gross and slimy. Nine out of ten times I argue with him more but every once in a while I find something that even somebody as adventurous as me, wouldn't touch. My option today included sushi with horse meat, some kind of seared fowl and then the slimy looking crab brain. I will eat almost anything but there is no chance crab brain is something I'd actually spend money on.
