I'm not sure how many people were really surprised when they read that the boys from ΣΑΕ weren't the gentlemen their national chapter prided themselves on being. This was a fraternity set up in the Deep South and from an informal poll I did online a number of people who pledged the frat do acknowledge that this was not a completely isolated incident. What shocks me is that this shocks anybody. Frat boys are not exactly the most upstanding citizens on a college campus, just look at the hazing, date rape and male nudity that happens at these houses n a regular basis. The University of Oklahoma can act like this is shocking to me but that is like Bud Selig saying he was shocked that Sammy Sosa and Big Mac were juicing.
Every dude on that bus knew those lyrics,my and sang it with such gusto and enthusiasm that you know this wasn't some isolated case no matter how much the frat boys will claim it was all innocent fun

Selig still in denial about report that surfaced on Internet last year about Ozzie and Jose.
ReplyDeleteWait.
ReplyDeleteWhat is this all about with SAE? The update didn't describe what the hubbub was about except that it was at Oklahoma.
Remember that I don't watch or read the news unless it relates to sports or porn.
So I found out about this SAE racist song thing at Oklahoma from this blog, and then I investigated online after hearing about some football recruit de-committing and then maybe going to Alabama as a result.
ReplyDeleteTHAT may actually change behavior at Oklahoma. If it's anything these Okies care about more than being rednecks and stupid, it's having a really good college football team.
Through additional online research, I also confirmed
another nugget of information: SAE was founded in the Deep South.
This actually explains a whole lot, as the two whitest, most obnoxious, exclusionary, and kinda racist (at least reputation-wise, when I was in college) fraternities that I remember from college were SAE and Sigma Nu. Those two houses also happened to be situated right next to one another on the same street, too. But I thought that maybe SAE just had that reputation at my old college. Apparently, it's a fairly widespread national reputation.
I feel educated after having read this blog.
