If there are two things which have become abundantly clear as we come out of this pandemic is that people should be allowed easy access to guns as we have observed a record number of mass shootings over the last few weekends and people
aren't ready to attend sporting events. Every night some NBA player is getting spit on or something thrown at them. Fans are storming courts, streaking over baseball fields or doing the YMCA all of which are repugnant behavior.

The only part of the NY AG investigation that bothers me is that it will give oxygen back to Trump when we have all started getting used to a life where he is completely inconsequential. The biggest news that came out of today's announcement that Amazon would buy MGM was not that the $9 billion it paid is less than the $10 billion bailout the US Government just gave Bezos but more that Bezos now owns the Apprentice outtakes. There has to be a lot there or Trump and Burnett wouldn't have made such a huge deal about preventing them from being leaked. With the head of the WaPo now in control, we had to think we will have a big reveal any day

I despise everything about Trump and his administration and felt that during the worst parts of the then largely unknown Coronavirus outbreak m they were gaslighting by pushing the responsibility onto China including dubbing it the "China Virus".   The anti China rhetoric was based on politics not science and inflamed tensions at the worst possible time.  

What I did believe then and still do now is that the idea of this coming from a live bat from a random fish market in the heart of China while the only level 4 virology center studying the most infections coronaviruses in China was in Wuhan was just a bit too coincidental.   Obviously we may never know exactly why and how this virus came to become the pandemic it is today but to dismiss the entirety of a possible lab leak seems naive.    

If it did originate in that lab it was likely leaked accidentally by sloppy handling but with the circumstantial evidence I do agree with Little Doocy that an independent forensics analysis needs to be made.

In 2021 we live in a world which still has European dictators..well one of them. When Lukashenko had his military intercept a passenger plane under the false pretense of a bomb onboard, all hell broke loose. The "security threat" was actually a political dissident who was in Lukashenko's crosshairs and the entire flight from Athens to Lithuania was grounded for eight hours while the Belarusian government scrambled to come up with some kind of plausible bull rap to justify it while simultaneously sending the dissident to the gulags.

There were a number of shootings over the weekend rom New a Jersey to Ohio to South Carolina. Andrew Giuliani who was once described as being so dumb he made Eric Trump look like the valedictorian of Harvard, is running for New York State governor. Let's leave the fact that he is completely unqualified and has no experience, in anything, aside and focus on the fact that he's a spoiled rich kid who has been convinced by somebody somewhere that he actually has potential. If Trump hasn't shown us all too clearly being a celebrity not only makes for a bad president it sets a bad precedent. Add to that his own infatuation with himself and yea just know this guy is besting off 20 times per day.

Take on Airline passengers getting weighed

Airline passengers will have to get weighed before boarding a plane which is something we've been pushing for on this blog for a decade. Airlines are trying to figure our how much total passenger weight they are carrying so that they can add more cargo. This is fine for their corporate profits but does not address my concern which is when I am sitting, I'd like to sit next to somebody without them putting their gut into my lap.

My issue is that if they are encroaching into my space, I should be the compensated, not delta.

The latest gas shortage reminds me of the oil embargo of the late 70's in the sense that there were huge lines and people were fighting each other for a spot. Today, red hat wearing morons are filling up plastic bags of gasoline and transporting it in their F150s so that they can make sure they can get back into their F150's while their kids shoot each other up because they left their guns in an unsecured lock box.
Mostly I'm annoyed because these people have spent so much on those F150a that they can no longer afford a belt.

As the CDC relaxes mask recommendations for vaccinated people, New Jersey has continued to require them. Obviously no state has suffered like the Garden State has, so you can't blame them for being a bit gun-shy. The bigger issue is that if we don't know for sure what is safe, it only turns this into yet another political football.
I have always been of the opinion that wearing masks outside has always seemed a bit excessive but I'm still bit sure about spending time indoors when you honestly have no idea who is and who isn't vaccinated. Even so until somebody explains this Yankee situation, in bit quite sure anybody knows how effective the vaccines are from preventing anything.

I'm so excited tied that this might be the last few days of freedom for Matt Gaetz as his close associate is likely to turn in his this weekend. We always knew he was a total creep but the last few months has really proven it. I always imagined a terrorist blowing up a pipeline and dumping millions of crude oil into some hayfield. It seems easy enough as there is no way to secure thousands of miles of pipeline and sabotaging it seems relatively simple. But today's terrorists don't physically attack, they cyber attack and the devastation is just as powerful. Of course there is a lot more to it than that but it does show how vulnerable our infrastructure is, both our physical and our cyber infrastructure.

Although this entire thing feels a bit like a hurricane report where everybody goes to Stop and Shop and hoards all the toilet paper and bottled water. I wouldn't be surprised if Exxon Mobil, Shell and the rest of them are more than happy now

One unlikely effect of the pandemic is that people have stopped showering. I guess if you can't leave your house and when you do everybody has to wear a mask, does lead people to decide to shower less. The environmentalist in me thinks saving water is a worthwhile achievement but I do wonder if a billion stinky people is what we should be aiming for

Tawny Kitaen dying today hit me harder than I thought it would. Maybe it was because she seemed like this unreachable vixen of my youth along the lines of Kelly LeBrock but why was more shocking was that the accompanying photo of her made her look more like Caitlyn than Kylie. She always portrayed herself as a hard partying girl but sadly it may not be have just been an act for a Whitesnake video but a true lifestyle. One that may have really caught up with her all these years later.

As if the last year hasn't sucked enough, we were told yesterday that some 23 ton rocket part is barreling back to earth as we speak.
